We must depend on God

We must depend on God

Human life is entirely about dependence.

In every field of this world, one cannot avoid depending on others. The family depends on the head of the family, children on their parents, workers on their employers, people on their leaders, and leaders on resources; in this way, everyone is dependent.

In history, when Dr. D. I. Wonderpool went to the country of Samoa, a leader of a denomination called Manama honored him and gifted him a mat called Find Mate. They told him that as long as he was in that country, this mat would be his support for any need. Showing it would grant him free travel, free medical care, and free sustenance; as long as he was there, this mat would be useful to him in every way. When they explained that it was the mat on which Queen Victoria had stood and spoken, Wonderpool jokingly asked if this mat could prevent his death if he depended on it.

Indeed, everything we depend on in this world is imperfect, impermanent, and subject to change.

The only one who is perfect, unchanging, and eternally reliable is God.

What God desires from humanity is that people should not rely on their own understanding but depend on Him with all their hearts. Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

*In the Holy Bible...*

Sheep depended on the shepherd.

Vines depended on the branch.

Disciples depended on the teacher.

Only when the sheep depended on shepherd did they find

safety and security.

Only when the vines depended on the branch did they grow.

Only when the disciples depended on the teacher did they learn.

The people of this world depend on other people, money, jobs, leaders, and governments. The truth we all know is that all these things they depend on are subject to change and will eventually cease to exist.

The only one who does not change is God. When we depend on God, He receives the glory, and the one who depends on God is the true worshiper.

Isaiah 31:1

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help.

Psalm 20:7

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

Psalm 40:4

Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.

Let us ask ourselves the question, "What is our trust, our dependence?"

In this new year, let us not rely on our own understanding, but depend on God with all our heart, and prosper in God's grace. 2 Timothy 2:1

Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

God bless you all
